How to Turn Off Dark Mode on Google Search

The internet has been a great source of information and entertainment in recent decades. Its search capabilities have made it even easier to find the information or content you are looking for. Google Search is one of the main sources of information for the web today and for most individuals, it is the go-to search engine when they want to find something.

Since Google continually updates its tools and features, it has added an extra bonus feature: Dark Mode. While this feature can be useful in saving your eyesight and reducing battery drain while using a mobile device, some people prefer to stick to the traditional view. If you are one of those people, here is how to turn off Dark Mode on Google Search.

What is Dark Mode?

Before we get into the process of turning Dark Mode off, let’s have a quick look into what it is and what it does. Dark Mode involves changing the look of the screen to a darker scheme. This involves changing the background color, text, and other elements to a darker hue. When enabled, it reduces the amount of blue light emitted from the display, which helps in reducing eye strain while using the device. It also helps in reducing battery drain, especially on OLED displays.

Why Would I Want to Turn off Dark Mode?

Although many people love the darker look that Dark Mode offers, some people prefer the lighter look. Aside from personal choice, there are a few other reasons you might want to turn off Dark Mode on Google Search.

  1. Reduced Contrast: The Dark Mode settings on Google can reduce the contrast of the screen and make it harder to see for some people. This issue can be even worse for those with vision impairments, who require higher contrast levels to see clearly.

  2. Unavailable Features in Dark Mode: Certain features are not available when Dark Mode is enabled and that can be frustrating for users who are familiar with these features.

  3. Color Imperceptibly Changing: Some users have reported that the colors on the screen seem to change imperceptibly when Dark Mode is enabled. This can result in a lot of confusion, especially if you are accustomed to the regular color palette.
